Romance is in the air at the Lambertville House. Recently we had the pleasure of welcoming the Cioffi's, a couple celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. Mr. Cioffi is one of the most ambitious husbands we have ever met. He planned an elaborate get-away chock full of romantic surprises; including a horse-drawn carriage ride, an elegant dinner, a surprise family party, and a day of pampering at a local spa. Way to go Mr. Cioffi!

This same weekend the Lambertville House was the setting for a surprise engagement, and two newly-weds on their wedding night. There must be magic in this place!

The Lambertville House was recently honored by admittance into Select Registry, Distinguished Inns of North America, the premier innkeeping association in the United States and Canada. Out of the thousands of inns in North America, only an elite few will be invited to join Select Registry. The Lambertville House joins more than 400 other exceptional properties that are already members of the Association.
Member inns must meet the rigorous standards of a Quality Assurance program, and represent the most prestigious establishments of their type.
The Lambertville House exemplifies the high quality and service championed by this Association. Select registry assures the traveler that each of its inns is regularly inspected measuring the quality of hospitality, as well as the physical plant. Our members share a high standard of excellence, and each of our country inns, luxury B&B's, and unique small hotels has its own distinctive character.
A recent New York Times article states - the industry has developed problems with quality control, pricing, and misrepresentation. "The field is becoming saturated", states Kehlbeck, "which makes being selected for this prestigious organization so important to our members. It sets the hotel apart in the public's mind. Our standards are very high for member inns, making for outstanding travel experiences for the general public."

It's been a long, cold winter, not just because the weather has been that way, but also because the United States and the World have been rocked by a horrible recession. Every time you turn on the TV, open a newspaper, listen to the radio, or read your news on the Internet (take your choice of venue), the doom and gloom are almost overwhelming. But guess what? I think everything is going to be just fine!!!

The world is full of people who bemoan the failure that they feel has been thrust upon them; and there are those who have had stellar success by the sheer strength of their optimism and belief that they would succeed. Some good planning is important, and luck and timing can play a role, but without optimism no amount of planning will be enough. Optimists can sell ideas; pessimists just depress people. The lodging and travel industry have been hit hard and are being hit even harder by a tone in Washington that suggests that travel is somehow a bad thing, at least for corporations.

There's a great article by Chris McGinnis entitled How I Saved 100 Jobs. It's a recount of the people he encountered traveling to a conference on business, people who needed people like him to have a job. There are a LOT of people who's livelihood depends upon travel, and, despite all the negativism, there are signs of hope and reasons to be somewhat more optimistic.

We are optimistic that 2009 is going to be a good year. It's really essential to feel the joy of coming to work every day, whether it's helping our guests be successful in their business or enjoy a little rest and relaxation.  Look around you. Optimism is everywhere if you open your eyes to it.

There is no substitute for real life experiences! With The B&B Team's combined knowledge and experience in acquisition, valuation, financing options, staffing, innkeeping and hospitality you will be fully immersed in an intensely informative three day seminar. You will leave with an understanding of why so many innkeepers establish long term relationships with The B&B Team from education to acquisition to retirement.

We have been working with Aspiring Innkeepers for fifteen years locally, regionally, and nationally. We are pleased to offer innkeeping seminars for those who are seriously considering this wonderful profession.  This spring, The B&B Team will be offering The Innkeeper’s Resource™ Seminar for Aspiring Innkeepers in Kennebunkport, Maine. Spend an informative and fun weekend with us! To read what some of our recent attendees have said and some tips for aspiring innkeepers, click here.

Your inn seminar guides will be founding partner Peter Scherman and partners and former Innkeepers, Janet & Rick Wolf. On a lighter note, you will enjoy the conversation and camaraderie with different experienced and successful Innkeepers both evenings.

The Lambertville House hosted a very successful seminar the weekend of February 27th. If you missed the opportunity to participate why not consider the next seminar planned for April 3-5, 2009 in Kennebunkport, Maine. You will not be disappointed!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at the Lambertville House Hotel. We especially liked the whirlpool bath tub and the added fireplace in the room. We also loved that we could get breakfast delivered to our room…we wish all places would offer that service. We definitely recommend the Lambertville House Hotel to others visiting Lambertville.
